Who owns our knowledge? A conversation on ownership in scholarly publications In-Person

Publishing your research isn’t just about getting it out there. It's also about knowing your rights. This session is crafted for UAB graduate students and their mentors who want to navigate the scholarly publishing world with confidence. This session will explore questions such as:

  • Who owns your writing once it’s published?
  • What does copyright actually mean for academics?
  • How does open access publishing help secure permission to use copyrighted materials?

UAB Libraries helps faculty and students understand your rights as authors and creators to help you to retain ownership of your intellectual property. This activity is sponsored by the UAB Libraries’ Office of Scholarly Communication as part of the International Open Access Week 2025 celebration.

Lunch will be served on a first come, first served basis.
