Join presenters Jeff Graveline and Dr. Marla Hertz for an engaging half-day intensive workshop designed to enhance your understanding of copyright law through a combination of lectures, discussions, and interactive learning activities. This session will cover a range of essential topics, beginning with the history and origins of copyright, followed by foundational concepts that everyone in higher education should know. Participants will explore the intricacies of fair use and other statutory exceptions, empowering them to address complex legal scenarios confidently. Additionally, we will delve into special topics such as the intersection of AI and copyright and recently decided copyright cases. 

Light breakfast and snacks will be provided. Optional pre-readings will be sent to participants one-week before the workshop. 

Registration is limited to 25 people, so please register to reserve your place. The workshop is open all UAB faculty, staff, and students.
