  • Charlie Gibbons, MA, Digital Archivist/Librarian II, The University of Alabama in Huntsville

Charlie is the Digital Archivist at the UAH M. Louis Salmon Library's Archives, Special Collections, and Digital Initiatives. He has an MA in History with a graduate certificate in Archival Studies from Auburn University. Charlie has managed UAH's institution repository, LOUIS [pronounced like Lewis], since its inception in January 2022 and has since overseen its growth to over 7,400 items documenting the research output and history of UAH. Charlie has a background in digital archives, and he previously worked for the Alabama Department of Archives and History and the Alabama Bicentennial Commission.

  • Amy Reese, MSIS, MFA, Assistant Professor, Institutional Repository Outreach Librarian, UAB Libraries, The University of Alabama at Birmingham

Amy is the Institutional Repository Outreach Librarian at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Libraries. She earned a Master of Library Science and Information Science from the University of Texas Austin and a Master of Fine Art in Creative Writing from the University of Notre Dame. With a background in library systems and more than 10 years of experience with repositories, Amy seeks to elevate local repositories and make their content as discoverable as possible.  She advocates for more inclusiveness of multimedia and other resources that fall outside traditional publishing models.

  • Allison Boswell, MLIS, Assistant Professor, Electronic Resources/Documents Librarian, Jacksonville State University

Allison (she/her/hers) is an Assistant Professor and the Government Documents/Scholarly Communications Librarian at Houston Cole Library at Jacksonville State University in Alabama. Boswell holds an MLIS from the University of Alabama-Tuscaloosa and a BA in Anthropology from the University of Missouri - St. Louis. Boswell has a total of 13 years of library experience. Prior to working at JSU, she was the Acquisitions Librarian for Pell City Public Library in Alabama, and she worked in various roles at the St. Louis County Library in Missouri. In her role as a Scholarly Communications Librarian at JSU she has a commitment to connection in the JSU community, which leads to more organic connections and conversations surrounding scholarship. She has also developed new workflows that can help with the challenges that arise when acquiring new scholarship from faculty. 

Moderator

  • Jeff Graveline, JD, MLIS, Professor and Associate Dean for Research and Scholarly Communication, UAB Libraries

Jeff is a Professor and Associate Dean for Research and Scholarly Communication in the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Libraries. He also serves as Director of the UAB Libraries' Office of Scholarly Communication. Jeff is the current Moderator of the ALLA Scholarly Communication Round Table. He is involved nationally with the American Library Association (ALA) and the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL) and served as President of the Alabama Library Association. Jeff’s research interests focus on scholarly communication, specifically the intersection between copyright and higher education. He holds a J.D. and an M.L.I.S. from the University of Alabama and a B.A. in History from Virginia Tech.
