Join UAB Libraries for the grand opening of the Dennis G. Pappas Historical Collections Gallery, a 3,000-square-foot space on the second floor of Lister Hill Library of the Health Sciences that will house rotating exhibitions featuring the Historical Collections of UAB Libraries.

The Pappas Gallery is the exhibition home to the Alabama Museum of the Health Sciences, the Reynolds-Finley Historical Library, and the UAB Archives.

Dennis G. Pappas Sr., M.D., and his son Dennis G. Pappas Jr., M.D., — both of whom specialize in otolaryngology — together have made a significant commitment to name the gallery.

Visitors can tour inaugural exhibit Navigating Communication: Breaking Invisible Barriers, which explores vision and hearing loss and the Deaf, Blind, and DeafBlind communities, open through August 2025.

A private reception will be held 4-5 p.m., with the public gallery opening beginning at 5 p.m.; Kasia Gonnerman, dean of UAB Libraries, and Dennis Pappas Sr., M.D., will provide remarks beginning at 5:30 p.m. Light hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Parking will be available at no cost 3-5:30 p.m. in the 9th Avenue Parking Deck.
