Read-Only Friday In-Person

Do you like chatting about technology? Are you looking for an informal setting to generate ideas about ways to solve problems or be creative in your library work using technology? This event is for you! Join the Technology and Technical Services department for the next Read-Only Friday on June 2 at 2:00 pm in Sterne Library Room 163.

There are no requirements for participation in Read-Only Fridays, any library personnel interested in technology are encouraged to attend.

The June 2 Read-Only Friday session will be our first Alma Sandbox Day. At Sandbox Days the Systems Group from the Emerging Technology and System Development department will provide hands-on interactive demonstrations of tools in the back-end of Alma.  This session will be a refresher on searching in Alma. Participants are encouraged to bring their laptops to the session if they want to try practicing in the sandbox during the live demonstrations.

Interested in what we discussed in the last Read-Only Friday? Check the Technology Channel in the UAB Libraries Microsoft Teams for an image of our whiteboard notes, trimmed with the technology lab’s Rocketbook Beacons.

Can’t make it this month? Mark your calendar now for the next gathering on Friday, July 28 at 2:00 pm. Location TBD.
